The day is getting nicer and nicer at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the inaugural Grand Prix of Indianapolis. The weather is mid-sixties but feels much warmer, with just a desultory breeze, and a few scattered clouds. No threat of rain today.
The garage activities are picking up and new Indianapolis 500 drivers cars and teams are arriving, along with some drivers – including JACQUES VILLENEUVE and PIPPA MANN. The No.21 Ed Carpenter Racing Chevrolet, to be driven by JR Hildebrand, is already being prepped for Sunday’s first day of Indy 500 practice. And a very relaxed, happy DARIO FRANCHITTI, is on site, after missing the last IndyCar round at Barber.
Other folks are out and about, including the Unser Clan – AL UNSER, Sr, AL UNSER, Jr, and JOHNNY UNSER, who is one of the three Driver Stewards in Race Control this weekend. The other two stewards are TONY KOTTMAN and BRIAN BARNHART.
I hear the first ‘Drivers, Start Your Engines!” Let’s Go Racing!
