INDY 500 POLE DAY SCHEDULE CHANGE

Empty Indy 500 Qualifying Chute

With light rain after Saturday morning practice at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the schedule for Pole Day Qualifying at the 97th Indianapolis 500 Mile Race was modified. After many laps of various vehicles circulating the track, at 1:25 pm it was considered dry enough for qualifying, and the first car went out at 1:28 pm ET.

The first two cars in the queue were SCOTT DIXON/Target Chip Ganassi Racing Honda and TAKUMA SATO/A.J.Foyt Enterprises Honda.

The weather was cloudy but warm -71 degrees F/22C, with the track at 83 F/28C.

The current revised schedule called for the Pole Day Qualifying of 24 cars to run until 6 pm ET, rather than the previously scheduled 4 pm ET. Then, the Fast Nine Qualifying will begin at 6:30 pm ET. If it rains before that, the Fast Nine will be skipped. There was no mention of what is the plan should it rain before the top 24 cars are locked into the field.
