It was Old Home Week at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, scene of Rennsport Reunion IV, scene of the largest gathering of historic Porsches ever on the West Coast. Not only did it bring together all those beautifully restored historic racing Porsches, but it reunited those cars with many of the drivers who raced them and the teams which owned and/or worked on them. The fans were reunited with cars they had seen raced back in the day. I’ve never seen so many amateur photographers with so much expensive camera equipment. They reveled in it. They sought autographs and a chance to chat with their hero drivers. It was all relaxed and yet sensory overload from such munificence of motorsports.
One of the perhaps unintended and happy consequence of this Rennsport was the reunion of many motorsports friends who hadn’t seen each other in a longtime, even years. I heard it over and over – people glad to see other people.
Truly a Reunion, Porsche Style.
