SNOW AT DAYTONA

There is a bit of snow and sleet coming down at Daytona International Speedway, with ice in some of the track corners. This has put a crimp in the schedule for Day Two of the Grand-Am Roar Before The 24 Rolex Series test session. The temperature is 33 degrees F/0.5C, with a breeze which makes for a biting cold experience on any exposed skin. It cuts through clothing like a knife.

One Continental Tire Challenge car braved the track for five laps of a tire test.

With time on their hands, some of the crew of the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team built little ‘snow’ men on their pit lane cart. It’s a combination of sleet, ice and snow. Nothing is sticking on the ground, but it is on the covered pit lane equipment.

The garages are mostly all shut up tight, and few people are seen outside, except those scurrying to and fro, bundled up head to toe.

Some teams are said to be considering their options. Not much to be gained from testing at this point.

Stay tuned.
